Training - Private Pilote - PPL
The European Private Pilot Licence – PPL (JAR-FCL)
The private pilot licence will allow you to fly all the single engine airplanes, alone or with passengers, without any remuneration.
Required conditions to get access to this training:
Being at least 16 years old
Pass a complete medical visit (class 2)
No criminal record
Legal parents authorisation (-18 years)
When those conditions are met, the Belgian Civil Aviation Authorities will give you a training licence and a logbook. The training licence is an official document which allows you to train and fly in solo, as soon as your instructor thinks you are able to. To get the private pilot licence, you will also need to pass a theoretical and practical examination (same principle as the driving licence)
Our school prepares you for these exams :
The theoretical courses relate to 9 subjects :
Air law and procedures
Aircraft General Knowledge
Flight performance & planning
Human performance & limitations
Meteorology
Navigation
Operational procedures
Flight principles
Communications
The examination is a multiple choice questionnaire and may be divided in two. The courses are given in the evening, twice per week. There are always 2 sessions per year (one in September and one in march) and this, in 4 different schools: Charleroi, Namur, Brussels or Liege.
The practical training is divided in three phases and must totalise a minimum of forty-five hours of flight. The first phase: allows you to get familiar with the plane. You learn how to climb, descent, turn, takeoff and…land. Once you can handle the plane, after 10 to 15 hours, you will fly solo for the first time! This means that it will be your first flight alone on board, around the airport...
You will never forget this day!
During the second phase: you will improve your flying techniques by flying with your instructor or in solo. You will also learn how to navigate across the country towards other airfields. At the end of this phase, you will have approximately 30h of flight and will now be able to fly alone on board. You will use the radio following the procedures in application inside a controlled airspace.
The third phase: You improve your flight techniques and learn how to react to unusual situations. This final stage ends with the practical “in-flight” examination. The atmosphere in the school this day will be memorable!
Your flight experience will have to be of minimum 45 hours (including a minimum of 5 hours with an instructor and 5 hours of navigation).
As soon as you totalise this number of hours, meet the required skill level and successfully pass the theoretical (1st) and practical (2nd) examination, you will get your private pilot licence!
You are now free to fly and enjoy trips around Europe, alone or with your family and friends!
